Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat!

I was hoping to finally be out of the princess phase this year with Clara, just for some variety. Apparently, that's just not possible when a new princess movie has been released since last Halloween!
You guessed it! Clara was Princess Tiana for Halloween, and Jonathan was in fact still 'Daddy' for the 'dark Halloween'.

How can it be 'Princess and the Frog' without a frog?

Ribbit!
A Princess and her Frog

She kept kissing her frog all night!

Jonathan the 'pilot', uh, I mean 'Daddy'

Pretty Princess

The frog wasn't so into this. A few nights earlier, when we got the costume in the mail. I dressed him up and he LOVED it. Of course, I didn't take any pictures then. Halloween night he just wasn't in the mood!

Gorgeous!

Trick or Treat...

...Smell my Feet!

The fire department came around with candy for the kids.

Back at home, he finally started to cheer up once he was out of the stroller.

One last picture of the crew

How else would a frog catch flies, than with the fly swatter?!

Pumpkin Carving

Nothing like waiting till the last minute, but we finally got around to carving our pumpkins today. This year I let the kids help.
Digging the seeds out

Jonathan wasn't too sure about digging out the seeds

He gave up on helping after just a couple scoops, and let me do the rest

Jonathan's finished pumpkin, 'Smiley'

Still trying to get the seeds out. She tried for a while, until she saw how quickly I was able to get the seeds out of Jonathan's pumpkin. So she enlisted me to help with hers, too.

I taped the pattern to the front of the pumpkin and let her poke the holes along the lines. She did a great job. I was impressed!

Clara's finished pumpkin

My hand was cramping, so we skipped the patterns and made Matthew a good old fashioned Jack-o-lantern. The kids were impressed by my skills :)

Happy Halloween!!!!!

Halloween Party

Jonathan's preschool had their class party today, and walked around the block to local businesses to go trick or treating. Jonathan couldn't get over the fact that he gets to have '2 Halloweens' this year, 'a light one' and 'a dark one'. Thankfully, he let me know this morning that he wanted to wear the same costume for both Halloweens! He was 'Daddy' just like he was last year.
All the business owners would say something like, "Aww, look at the pilot!" Each time Jonathan was sure to correct them that he wasn't a pilot, he was Daddy!

Looks just like his Daddy here!

His 'Sassy pose'

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treating wasn't enough sweets, had to have a cupcake at the party!

Yum!

Wondering why all he gets is fruit!

Sugar cookies, too!

CHEESE!!!!!

Playtime

Swinging

Even Matthew had a good time at the party!

Like I said, Chris got to go in today for Clara's party, but guess who forgot to take the camera?!

Bedtime Stories

Someone else around here likes books, too!

This particular book has things that slide out. Matthew loves it!

Comfy as can be!

He carries this book around with him all through the house!

Book Worm

Clara picked right up where she left off with her reading this year. She has been taking the comprehension quizzes on each book she reads to earn points. Today she came home with her first batch of ribbons!
We're so proud of her!

Crafty Saturday

Even though Chris is still home, he had to work this morning so the kids and I kept busy in town doing all the free crafts we could find. We went to Lowes and built flapping bat puppets, and then to Michaels to make Halloween t-shirts. I had the camera with me the whole time, yet somehow, it didn't occur to me to get it out and take any pics.
Anyway, here's the finished shirts:
Obviously I helped Jonathan a good bit with his.

Clara only needed help with the handprints, the rest is her creation!

Matthew's 1st Haircut

Matthew was growing a mullet, and needed a bit of a trim, just in the back. So since I had Chris home for a couple days, I took the opportunity to give him a little trim.

He only sat like this long enough to get a couple snips, but it was long enough.

I tried to put some of his first locks in an envelope, but may have to wait until his first REAL haircut!

Why do dogs have tails?

Jonathan: Mom, why do dogs have tails?
Me: I don't know. It's the way God made them.

Jonathan: I know...so they can flap something and make themselves smell better!

Me: Yep, that's exactly it!

Toy Box

Matthew's up to his old tricks again. He takes half the toys out of his toy box, then climbs in to get play with the rest. If I take him out, he climbs back in.
'Can I help you?'

One of his favorite things lately is to turn anything with wheels over and just spin the wheels. He does it to literally ANYTHING with wheels. If he's in a particularly good mood he then laughs hysterically as the wheel spins...it's the little things!

'Who me?'
